Thank you for your interest in the music appreciation workshop. The workshop is mainly for turning listeners into connoisseurs. We listen to Hindi and Marathi film songs, and as we listen to them we like the way an instrument makes its way into the song, or a slight variation by the singer but we always don’t identify the instrument or we don’t grasp the nuances of the song.
There is a tendency to romanticise and mystify the process of creativity and in this workshop what we’ll do is attempt to demystify the technique of creativity but retain the romance! We’ll learn about the basics of music and how songwriters, arrangers, producers, singers, directors and ultimately you, the listeners process a song and give it meaning!
I am attaching the brochure here so that you get a rough idea of the topics we will be dealing with.
We are planning the workshop in 3 sessions. The topics are roughly – the elements of a song. How is a song composed? How to ‘read’ a song? What is music arrangement? What are the different instruments used in Hindi film recordings? How do composers decide the casting of a song? If you think there are any specific questions you have, I’ll be happy to accommodate those topics.
Once again, thank you for your interest in attending this workshop. The fee for the workshop is Rs. 1200/-. Following is the link to the payment gateway. You can write the name of the person attending the workshop, add the workshop to the basket, and then click on the basket icon on the top right corner of your screen.
